The Qualification Process

The following steps explain how the whole process works from pre-registration to certification.

Step 1: The candidate carries out a self-assessment to confirm eligibility

Step 2: The candidate registers by paying the fee and submitting the registration documents and scan copy of a valid ID

Step 3: The Assessor carries out induction. The purpose is to confirm the candidate’s eligibility for the qualification and to advise them on the required features of the evidence. If in an assessor’s judgment, the candidate does not meet the registration requirements then the registration shall be canceled and the fee shall be refunded.

Step 4: The learner shall submit the required evidence against the assessment criteria. If needed, they may ask the assessor about the nature and type of evidence against any assessment criterion.

Step 5: The assessor shall review the submitted evidence and provide feedback to the candidate. If the submitted evidence meets the requirements of assessment criteria, then it will be saved in the candidate’s portfolio as “criteria met”. If it lacks the requirements then the assessor shall advise the candidate about the gaps so the candidate may re-submit with improvements.

Step 5: The learner submits the evidence of competence attainment against all the learning outcomes and is marked as “Criteria met2 by the relevant assessor.

Step 6: The Internal Quality Assurance Verifier (IQA) carries out the checks to ensure assessment standardization.

Step 7: Once satisfied, the IQA shall present the portfolio to ProQual external Quality Assurance Verifiers (EQA) which will further confirm the assessment standardization. The EQA may call you as well as part of this process and confirm the authenticity of the submitted evidence.

Step 8: The candidate shall be issued with the relevant certificate from the Proqual Awarding Body if all checks by EQA are satisfactory.

No. The NVQ qualifications are designed for candidates who are already competent and have specific work experience and they can take NVQ qualifications by presenting evidence of their competence from their workplace.

Yes, you can get enrolled if you can present the required evidence from your previous job role. But remember, your submitted evidence must be current in context with the regulatory requirements. As a matter of fact, you can submit evidence as old as 12 months only.

If you think that it is unlikely that you will be able to present the evidence against the required assessment criteria due to the nature of your role or type of the organization then this is not the right qualification for you.

If you are competent that you can develop and implement an OHS management system for this organization from scratch then you can get enrolled and present the evidence of your work as you proceed. However, if you don't have the experience and competence then this is not the right qualification for you as this qualification assesses your competence which you may have achieved through your work experience etc.

You are not required to present any sensitive data as part of your evidence submission for this qualification. Moreover, you can remove any names/ designations/and confidential information from the relevant documents and records before submitting them to the assessors. Likewise, you can create the documents and records afresh by removing any references to the organization. However, you must keep in mind that your submitted evidence should demonstrate your competence attainment in an assessor's judgment otherwise, your submitted evidence shall not be accepted.

The submitted evidence must be Valid, Authentic, Current, Sufficient, and Reliable. Validity means the evidence should demonstrate the relevant competence that the specific assessment criteria aim to measure. Authentic means it should be your own work without any collusion or external support. Current means it should conform to the latest regulatory requirements and technological advancements etc. Sufficient means it should cover all the requirements of the relevant assessment criteria. Reliable means it is objective evidence that is verifiable.

The assessment criteria that require a written response are highlighted in Red color in the workbooks. Moreover, you can contact your designated assessors anytime you wish to get advice.

The earliest you can pass this qualification is 3 months. This is due to the nature of the qualification and type of checks to ensure the assessment's validity and reliability.

No. The assessor will guide you during the course of this qualification. However, do not expect any lectures as this is a workplace-based qualification that assumes you already have the required competence.

The assessor will completely guide you on what can be the right evidence keeping in view your workplace and the nature and type of activities being performed there through your input.

We may allow an extension of the registration validity depending on any conditions by the awarding body. This shall be decided on a case-to-case basis and a small administration fee may apply.

The submitted evidence must be authentic. This means it must be your own work or a significant contribution by you. If you submit evidence from another candidate's work or copy another candidate's work then this shall be malpractice. You must read our policy on malpractice as this can have severe implications and may result in your registration being cancelled in addition to further penalties being applied depending upon the nature and scale of malpractice.

The IQA/EQA may call some of the candidates to confirm if the submitted evidence was a result of their own work. They need to confirm candidate's understanding before approving the awarding body the issuance of the final certificate

Yes, this is an online qualification and you do not need to travel for the qualification or assessment. You can register for this qualification from anywhere in the world if you meet the requirements of the English Language and the specific job requirements as per the relevant assessment criteria of the qualification.
